Fun with Soft Synths

I have been experimenting with software synthesizers, programs that generate music by emulate the operation of hardware music synthensizers. I hook up my laptop to a keyboard using the MIDI interface and listen using headphones or the laptop's speakers. Details: I've recorded some of the soft synths' more interesting sounds using MP3MyMP3 3.0, a freeware program, running on my laptop. I cable the laptop's headphone output to its microphone input and use a headphone splitter for my headphone. These MP3s are short (30 seconds to a minute) for a couple of reasons: 1) I get a lot of music from musicnotes.com, which gives the first page of the music for free, and 2) I can't play more than that without making a mistake :)
